Care Instructions

Care · engraved pieces

The mark stays.
The material likes a gentle clean.

Laser engraving is marked into the piece. On coated drinkware, the laser reveals the metal under the coating. It will not peel the way a printed logo can.

The care below is for the coating, the lid, the leather, and the metal around that mark. Drinkware is in the shop now. Leather notebooks, keychains, and tags are part of the work too.

What the engraving is

On powder-coated drinkware, the laser removes coating in the design and leaves the metal showing. That is a single-tone mark. A full-color logo engraves as that silver reveal, not as the original colors.

The mark stays with the piece. A scratch in the coating, a dent, or a harsh cleaner can change how the finish looks around it. The wash is what keeps that finish looking new.

How to wash drinkware

  1. Hand wash with mild soap, warm water, and a soft sponge or cloth.
  2. Wash the outside and the engraving the same way. A soft sponge is kinder than an abrasive pad.
  3. A short wash is better than a long soak. Soaking can affect the seal on lids and gaskets.
  4. Dry with a soft cloth, or air dry upside down so the lid area can drain.
  5. Mild soap keeps the coating looking its best. Bleach and harsh chemicals can dull it.

Many tumblers are technically dishwasher safe. Hand washing still keeps the finish looking newer for longer. High heat and harsh detergent can dull the exterior. Follow the maker's notes for that model, especially the lid.

Lids, straws, and gaskets

The engraving is on the vessel. The lid is a separate part. Rinse the lid, straw, and gasket with the same mild soap, then let them dry before you put them back together.

If a lid has a maker's care note, that note wins for the lid. A hot car for a long stretch is hard on lids, gaskets, and coatings. The mark itself stays.

Keychains and metal tags

Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry it. A dry spot is the best place to keep it.

Saltwater and a long wet stretch can tarnish some metals. The engraving stays. The shine around it likes a dry shelf.

Leather notebooks and tags

Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. A leather conditioner now and then keeps it supple.

Shade and a dry shelf are kinder than direct sun and a soak. Do not submerge a leather piece.

A tumbler you already owned

Care is the same after bring-your-own engraving. Send photos of existing marks before we start, so we can tell you if it is a fit. Marks already on an item you supply stay with that item.

Care questions

Will the engraving wash off?

The mark stays. On coated drinkware it is the metal under the coating, not a sticker or a printed layer. A harsh cleaner can dull the coating around it.

Can I put it in the dishwasher?

Many tumblers are technically dishwasher safe. We still recommend a hand wash with mild soap so the finish stays looking new. Check the maker's note for the lid.

What soap should I use?

A mild soap and warm water. Skip bleach, abrasive pads, and harsh chemicals. A soft sponge or cloth is enough.

How do I care for a keychain or a leather notebook?

Metal likes a soft damp wipe and a dry shelf. Leather likes a dry or slightly damp cloth, a conditioner now and then, and shade. Neither likes a soak.
